Treelovers Paradise! With trees over 1000 years old, it preserves a small yet towering vestige of the vast forests of Sequoia that graced the slopes and valleys surrounding San Francisco Bay.

Parking Accessibility

There are four van accessible spots right up front next to the restroom.

There are also four or more car accessible parking spots on top of the universally accessible parking spots located within twenty feet of the parking lot.

Please refer to Traffic and Travel Tips and Travel Advisories for more detailed directions from the San Francisco, Berkeley/ Oakland, San Rafael/ Santa Rosa, and Stinson Beach/ Olema areas.

Enjoy the wonder of Muir Woods without fighting traffic and adding to the congested parking facility and surrounding roads—take Golden Gate Transit (GGT) Route 66. GGT will again operate the popular Route 66 Muir Woods Shuttle on weekends and holidays. Route 66 service will begin this year on Saturday, May 2, 2009 and continue late into September, ending on September 27, 2009.

Free parking is available at the Manzanita Park and Ride and at the Pohono Street lot in Mill Valley, CA.

Restroom Accessibility

There is an accessible restroom in the parking lot of Muir Woods National Monument. Located close to the accessible parking spaces.

There are also accessible restrooms right outside the brand new cafe and gift shop that is accessible from the main path at the Muir Woods entrance.

Exhibit Accessibility

There is an accessible pathway leading to the main trail that has about six Wheelchair accessible exhibits.

Pathway and Hiking Accessibility

There are accessible pathways leading into the wood pathway which is accessible.

A bridge leading over the water provides a nice place to sit and listen to the water and glance around your surroundings with a enough turn-around area, the other side of the first bridge however is not accessible.

Ramps off the wood loop path link up to the brand new gift shop and cafe which is completely accessible.

Accessible Cafe and Gift Shop

The new cafe and gift shop is accessible when you follow the pathway through the first exhibits and follow the signage up the ramps.

The main entrance is the second door on the left of the building.
