Winter Surf Warning
Every year people drown in the surf off Northern California beaches - don't let it be you! Be extra alert on park beaches during the winter storm season. Do not turn your back on the shoreline and watch for extra powerful “sneaker” waves.
Training is an important aspect of all fire management activities to ensure safe and successful operations. Minimum interagency training requirements are established for fire positions by NWCG, the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.

Geologists sometimes call Franciscan pillow basalt “greenstone” because it contains green minerals formed in an interaction between the basalt and hot, mineral-rich seawater.
