Glen Echo Park was built at the end of the trolley line as were many American amusement parks. It provided a source of passengers in the evenings and weekends.
There were several trolley stops in the town of Glen Echo, just a few yards further away from downtown than the Park. Life-long town resident Billy Briggs recalls -
"The kids used to meet the trolleys on Friday evenings and if the weekly commuters were not going to use their passes on Saturday, they would let the kids have them. The kids could then get downtown for free. On Sunday mornings, the kids would offer to buy the passes for the following week (saving the commuters having to get in line for passes) and deliver the passes Sunday evening, having used them to get downtown on Sunday."
