On October 1, 2003, the National Park Service transferred the management of Glen Echo Park cultural programming to the non-profit Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture Inc. (GEPPAC). The NPS had created and nurtured the park's arts, dance and festival cultural program since 1971, and we feel confident that the new non-profit organization will bring new energy and great advances to our beloved program.
GEPPAC's website www.glenechopark.org contains information on all of the cultural events and classes taking place at the park.
A listing of the month's events (including Spanish Ballroom dances) can be found on that page. The current catalog of Glen Echo Park classes and events can also be accessed and downloaded from that site.
Our new role at the park will be much more in line with traditional National Park Service functions: there will be a high-visibility Visitor's Center in the rebuilt Arcade building, new interpretive exhibits and displays, and an expanded variety of ranger tours, school programs and outreach activities.
Watch this space in coming weeks for information on NPS programming at Glen Echo Park!
