Rangers Respond to Boat Fire at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
At approximately 1:47 a.m. on October 7, National Park Service (NPS) dispatch at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (NRA) received a call of a boat fire on "O" dock at the Wahweap marina. NPS personnel responded by boat. Additional personnel from the City of Page Fire Department also responded. The fire was brought under control and the houseboat, though salvageable, suffered extensive damage. The Incident Commander, NPS Ranger Shawn McNally, stated the fire had reached extremely high temperatures inside the boat before flames became visible. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the NPS.
