Parking Lot Construction Update
Portions of the Antelope Point parking lot and boat preparation lanes will be closed temporarily in preparation for pavement preservation project work that will occur at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in early October. The work will be conducted in stages, with half of the lot and boat preparation lanes available at all times. Visitors are directed to follow posted parking restrictions signs. The parking lot and boat preparation lanes are anticipated to reopen entirely on October 13.
Additional temporary parking lot closures will be implemented at Bullfrog, Halls Crossing and Wahweap. For a complete schedule of temporary parking lot closures, please visit http://www.nps.gov/glca/parknews/roadconstruction.
This road repair is part of the much larger park-wide project being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The project is a joint effort between Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and the Federal Highways Administration to maintain and extend the life cycle of 42 miles of park roads, parking lots and turnouts.
Did You Know?
Be careful what you breathe. Boat generators, engines, and gas appliances produce deadly carbon monoxide gases. Ensure proper ventilation. Don't swim, sit, or work near exhaust.
