Missing Swimmer Recovered Near Bullfrog Marina
Page, AZ–National Park Service Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a missing swimmer near Bullfrog Marina at approximately 2:45 pm MST on Thursday, August 14, 2014. Park Rangers began an immediate search of the area by boat and overflight until darkness prevented safe operations. Search efforts resumed the following morning with the National Park Service Dive Team. The apparent drowning victim, a 19 year old male, identified as Victor Alfonso-Flores, a Mexican National who lived in the Salt Lake City area, was recovered at approximately 11:36 MST on August 15, 2014. This incident was jointly investigated by the National Park Service and Kane County Sheriff's Office.
Officials from the National Park Service, Kane County Sheriff's Office, and Utah Department of Natural Resources provided invaluable assistance with the search and recovery operations.
