Date: November 5, 2009

Superintendent Stan Austin today announced that in honor of America’s service men and women, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area will not charge entrance fees on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

This year, the entrance fee waiver in observance of Veterans Day has been extended to all park visitors. During past years, only U.S. veterans, active members of the U.S. armed forces, and their families received fee waivers. The entrance fee waiver includes all National Park Service sites, as well as recreation lands managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation.

The Department of Agriculture also is waiving entrance fees to its national forests.

The fee waiver applies to entrance fees only. The duration of the free pass issued November 11th is for one day only. All other fees still apply.
