Bullfrog-Halls Crossing Ferry Out of Service to Undergo Maintenance
The ferry that operates between Bullfrog and Halls Crossing marinas will be out of service until early spring while it undergoes maintenance and repairs. According to a report from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Lake Powell Ferry was awarded a $240,000 grant for ferry boat improvements. Part of the money from the grant will be used to rebuild the generators, rebuild the engines, and repaint the boat deck. The ferry’s last run will be December 31, 2010 and it is expected to re-open for service in March, 2011. Visitors wishing to travel from Bullfrog to Halls Crossing or vice versa will need to drive around Lake Powell via Hite.
The ferry is owned and operated by the Utah Department of Transportation and is operated by Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas.
