Drop offs and pick ups
Contact: Albert Faria, Chief Ranger, 907-697-2621
This notice is to inform Glacier Bay National Park visitors that the camper drop-off and pick-up sites have been changed. On July 16th the sites were Rendu and Sebree Island. Due to safety and environmental issues of Rendu, park management at the request of the dayboat operator has changed the Rendu site back to Sundew Cove. This change is immediate and Rendu will no longer be used for a drop off site. The site will be checked daily until current campers due to be picked up have all been either notified or picked up. SUNDEW COVE AND SEBREE ISLAND ARE NOW THE CURRENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP SITES. Exact locations of these sites, with a latitude/longitude position is provided to all campers during their orientation prior to accessing Glacier Bay National Park's marine backcountry.
Did You Know?
Captain James Cook named the tallest mountain in Glacier Bay, Mount Fairweather, in 1778. As Southeast Alaska is a temperate rainforest, with an average of only 50 sunny days a year, it would require fair-weather to see that mountain.
