Laura Law's Education Blog - August 2009
|
August 14, 2009 No, that is not a typo for the date, I have missed an entire spring and summer of blogging! I'm hoping all of you have had a wonderful break and are eager to get back to school (at least I've talked to some students who are excited to get back!). I will be conducting a couple of workshops next week as part of the NW Montana Educational Cooperative's Summer Institute. The "Glacier 101" workshop has been cancelled because of low recruitment, but the science inquiry and climate change workshops will happen on the afternoon of Aug. 20 and the morning of Aug. 21, respectively. For more information about the workshops, you can visit our professional development page. Thanks to donations from the Plum Creek Foundation and Montana-Dakota Utilities to the Glacier National Park Fund, schools scheduled for ranger-led field trips will be eligible this year for travel grants. Speaking of ranger-led field trips, I will be taking reservations starting on August 24, 2009. The information about all of our field trip programs- including schedules, objectives, activities, and even "How to Dress for a Field Trip" can be found on our field trip link. As we approach the park's 100th birthday, all of us with Glacier Education are looking forward to another year of introducing students to the wonderful resources here in Glacier National Park. Thank you for your continued interest in our programs...

Did You Know?
Did you know that over 35 Hollywood films were set in Glacier National Park? In honor of film being an American tradition, the Glacier Centennial Program hosted a film festival throughout 2010.
