Software

A major expense - in time and/or money - is the processing of imagery. Below, we provide links to a few of the most commonly used software applications. These applications are used to primarily to classify imagery. Methods and techniques of image classification constitute a very large field.

The Center for Biodiversity and Conservation, American Museum of Natural History, maintains an extensive web site with more detailed information on relevant software, both free and commercial. See http://cbc.rs-gis.amnh.org/remote_sensing/resources/software.html.
