Education and Applications

If you are new to remote sensing or just want to see what others are doing with the technology at NPS, then you are at the right place. Remote sensing products and their application are critical to (1) location and detection of NPS cultural resources, (2) understanding the role and function of those cultural resources, (3) understanding how vegetation and other natural resources are distributed on a landscape scale and (4) documenting land-cover changes inside and adjacent to park boundaries.

The purpose here is to provide you with:
  • remote sensing applications (cultural and natural resource) across a broad range of topics,
  • tutorial documentation for select applications to give you an opportunity to understand, in detail, how some of these applications were developed.
