Data and Information
This part of the Remote Sensing web site provides information on:
- Information on how to determine what imagery you need for a particular purpose. The intent of this section isn’t to make you a remote sensing expert, but to provide a foundation that will allow a general ecologist to engage in a meaningful conversation with a contractor or other remote sensing expert.
- Sources of remote sensing data. These include major imagery archives from which you can obtain imagery for little or no expense, and for-profit sources of imagery.
- Information on how to actually acquire imagery from archives. For example, you will need to fill out some rather bewildering forms to acquire ASTER imagery. Here, we describe and define the form fields and values that will likely be relevant to NPS needs.
- Links to other sites that we think are especially relevant.
