2009 Interagency GPS Trimble Pathfinder Systems:

2009 GPS: Trimble Pathfinder Systems: These 3 day courses will be offered again in Kona Hawaii March 24-27, 2009, Anchorage Alaska May 6-8, 2009, and some other location yet to be determined. These classes provide a comprehensive suite of theory, techniques, and hands-on learning for use with GPS equipment/software and building a solid GIS. The class will focus on the field and office workflow using Trimble GPS equipment to generate data for use in an ArcGIS 9.2 environment. The course is targeted at: Field specialists who are actively involved with GPS data collection and processing; and GIS specialists and GIS data managers who are involved in GPS data analysis and maintenance. Class participants will learn how to link digital photos with GPS and concerns regarding photo management.

  • - What: GPS to GIS: Pathfinder Systems
    - Class Size: Limited to 20 students.
    - Cost: Tuition is free. Travel and per diem paid for by benefiting account.
    - Hardware and software used in course: Trimble mapping GPS receivers, Trimble TerraSync Professional, Pathfinder Office, ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 and GPS PhotoLink.
    - Equipment needed: There must be one computer for each student. It is highly recommended that students bring their field laptop, and prepare them for the course. There are considerable setups required - read the Class Requirements document for all details regarding software. Field computers with GPS include the GeoExplorer 3, GeoCE devices (GeoXT 2003, GeoXM 2003, GeoXM2005, GeoXT2005, GeoXH2005), Pathfinder Pro XR systems, ProXH, ProXT and ProXRS. Refer to Class requirements documents for details. Digital cameras are also recommended.
    - Prerequisites: Students must have basic ArcGIS skills equivalent to the ESRI Virtual Campus class "Learning ArcGIS 9" Modules 1-6. Students must have a basic understanding of GPS fundamentals equivalent to Trimble's online tutorial. Find links to both ESRI and Trimble courses in the Class Requirements document.
