General GPS Tool Kit

The GIS and Information Resources Team (RGR) of the Alaska Support Office seeks to provide timely information to support park management needs in an innovative and multi disciplinary manner. Our mission is to develop a program that integrates current technology, staff expertise and information products to facilitate:
Data creation/management - providing expertise to create and manage databases that help to protect our investment in data gathering activities.
Toolset development - providing leadership and programming services to develop GIS and database tools for national, regional, and park level applications.
Inventory and monitoring - providing leadership for implementation and management of ecological programs utilizing sound science.
Information dissemination - distributing data and information to park managers, staff, and the public through GIS, database, web, and other outreach activities.
GPS Tool Kits
The AKSO GIS Team has put together a series of GPS Tool Kits are designed to provide laptop-ready access to those often repeated issues regarding GPS use and GIS. These kits do not concentrate on the NAVIGATION side of GPS, but rather the use of GPS for data development, mapping and use in your Parks GIS data framework. This Tool Kit resides in a /GPSToolBox directory and can be accessed through a shortcut to this html document. All the files MUST be located in the /GPSToolBox directory on your hard-drive, but you can get to most of them from here:
