Exercise 3: Woodland Home Forest Fire Hazard Rating and the Wildland Urban Interface
Fire Information specialists are using the Woodland Home Forest Fire Hazard Rating to educate homeowners at the wildland/urban interface in FireWise techniques. GIS is used to display the assessment data and provide homeowners with maps of the assessment. GPS data is collected at nearest water sources, photo-points and access roads.

At the conclusion of this section, you will be able to:
- Query a shapefile and make a new theme.
- Adjust thematic layers in a View.
- Design a map using an ArcView layout document.
- Download from a Garmin GPS unit.
- Enter information into an Access database.
- SQL connect to an external database and display data queries.
- Set up and hotlink photos.
- Create final project maps from an ArcView layout document.
