Guided Tours Currently Not Available on Many Days
Due to a current shortage of volunteer staffing, guided tours of the cliff dwellings are offered only infrequently. Self-guided tours remain available from 9 am to 4 pm MDT daily.
Traffic & Travel Tips
NOTE: Although the distance from Silver City is only 44 miles via State Highway 15, the travel time is approximately two hours due to twisting and winding mountain terrain.

Mimbres pottery provides a glimpse into the world of the ancient Puebloans of the Mimbres region, a subset of the Mogollon area. Some of the pottery depicts activities such as hunting, fishing, and gaming. Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is the only National Park Service unit that was established specifically to preserve structures created by the ancient Puebloans of the Mogollon area.
