Title: Adventures, Explorations and Attempts at Settlement in the Gila Forks Area

Author: Kara Naber

Source: Paper

The land could amply provide for small groups of people living at a substance level. Compared to the much more sparse and arid regions to the south and west, the abundance and variety of flora and fauna was the modern equivalent of living in a shopping center with a supermarket, pharmacy, and building supply store. But the Mogollon had one more economic advantage. In addition to being hunters and gathers, they were also accomplished farmers.

…the Tularosa Mogollon who built the Gila Cliff Dwellings remained only a relatively short time before moving on.
