The Youth Partnership Program (YPP) disperses federally appropriated funds to organizations to support them in providing minority and disadvantaged youth employment and educational opportunities in national parks. Funds are used to support programs that encourage activities in land conservation and interpretation of natural and cultural resources and support the development of new partnerships and the maintenance of existing ones.  Resource education is an important program objective so each project includes both work and substantial environmental learning goals.

These funds are directed toward non-profit organizations that serve minority and disadvantaged population groups dedicated to educating American youth.  Organizations are selected based on a strict set of criteria and are expected to provide employment opportunities in land and environmental conservation in America’s national parks.

The YPP is also designed to enhance the NPS’s Youth Conservation Corps (YCC), one of the most effective programs in the country for introducing young people to the conservation of natural and cultural resources.  YPP funds can be used to enhance and expand the opportunities available to YCC participants, for example, an YCC corps partnering with a non-profit organization to conduct educational seminars for young people to supplement the work projects. In addition to supplementing the YCC program, YPP funds can also support Boy and Girl Scout scouting programs, similar youth programs, as well as to create new partnerships.

Youth Partnership Program funds contribute to a wide variety of projects and programs, supporting expenses, partnership development, etc. Below is a sample of some of the funding uses.
