Gettysburg National Military Park - Fees & Reservations (U.S. National Park Service)

Entry to the park is free of charge.

A New Birth of Freedom
There is a charge for the film "A New Birth of Freedom" narrated by Morgan Freeman, at the park Visitor Center. The film was produced for Gettysburg by the Gettysburg Foundation.

Admission to the film is:
$8.00 per person (ages 13 and older)
$6.50 for children (ages 7 to 12)
Children under 6 years old admitted free.
Group Rates: $7.00 per adult.
Student Group Rates: $6.50 per person.

(*Please note that these admission prices will go up in September once the restored Gettysburg Cyclorama is opened for public viewing.)

Licensed Battlefield Guides
Guides may be reserved in advance for organized bus groups and car tours by calling toll free at 1-877-874-2478. A guide may also be reserved on the day of your visit with availability on a first come-first served basis.

Guide fees:
1-6 people= $55.00
7-15 people= $70.00
16-49 people= $105.00
50+ people= $140.00.

During the busy season, there are commercial bus tours available with a licensed guide aboard that leave from the visitor center at times scheduled throughout the day. The fee for this service is $25.95 for adults (ages 13+), $15.50 youth (ages 6-12), and free for children 5 and under. Additional information on guide services is available here.

Special Use Permits
For certain events and ceremonies held in the park, sponsoring groups will require a Special Use Permit, which is available through our web site or by calling the park at (717) 334-1124, extension 3161.

Permits

McMillan Woods Youth Campground
For scouting and youth groups that visit Gettysburg National Military Park, we offer McMillan Woods Youth Campground, located on West Confederate Avenue in the park. The camp area is open from mid April through October each year. Any organized youth group with adequate adult supervision (minimum of one adult for every 10 youths) is welcome to use the camping area. Adults accompanying the group must be supervisors such as troop scoutmasters or youth counselors; family members are not permitted to camp with their child's organization. Camping is free with sites reserved through an annual lottery. There is no family or individual camping permitted at McMillan Woods Youth Campground or on park grounds.

The 2008 Camping Season will be from April 11 to October 26, 2008. The lottery for 2008 reservations was held on February 1, 2008. Applicants were notified with a confirmation and camping permit through the mail by mid-February if their requested date was accommodated. (Reminder: The busiest time for the campground is Spring and early Summer. If you are flexible with your date, you may want to consider later Summer or early Fall.)

PLEASE NOTE: The reservation request form for the 2009 Campground Lottery will be posted on September 15th, 2008. Please do not fill out and send in the 2008 reservation form as the dates will be different for the 2009 camping season.
