Gettysburg National Military Park Mid-Winter Lecture Series 2013
Today's Program: Gettysburg Understood Through Etymology, Metaphor and Personification, with Troy Harman
Sources on the battle of Gettysburg abound, but it is the cultural meaning of words, in those sources, that add another layer of understanding. A closer analysis of the descriptive language associated with the town and battle uncovers a rich texture of cultural meaning below the surface.
This series of free, one-hour programs begins at 1:30 p.m., in one of the theaters at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. Additional lectures will take place on weekends through March 10 and are free of charge. Full schedule available by calling 717-334-1124 x 8023 or by visiting www.nps.gov/gettMore »
