USCT Graveside Salute, November 19

On Tuesday, November 19, 2013, the United States Colored Troops Graveside Salute will be held at the Gettysburg Soldiers Cemetery. The keynote speaker during this brief service is Scott Hancock, associate professor of History and Africana Studies at Gettysburg College. This service will begin at noon or at the conclusion of the Dedication Day Services held at the cemetery . USCT reenactors are invited to participate. Mel Reid and Ben Hawley, USCT reenactors from the Washington DC area will attend with members of their regiments. The Honor Guard from the Biglerville American Legion Post 262 will participate in posting the colors and playing taps. This annual event is held in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address and is conducted by Debra McCauslin of Gettysburg For The Cause Productions.
