Gettysburg Superintendent Bob Kirby congratulates Licensed Battlefield Guide Phil Lechak.

Licensed Battlefield Guide Phil Lechak, of Gettysburg, Pa., received the Superintendent's Award for Excellence from Gettysburg National Military Park, the National Park Service announced today. The annual award recognizes quality tours, assisting park staff and visitors, and a commitment to honor and respect those who fought and fell on the field of battle. Bob Kirby, Gettysburg National Military Park Superintendent, presented Lechak with the award.

The statue of General Robert E. Lee atop the Virginia Monument at Gettysburg National Military Park was sculpted by F. William Sievers. A similar equestrian statue of Lee is located on Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia.
