National Park Service Visitor Center- Located between the Taneytown Road (State Rt.134) and the Emmitsburg Road (Bus. Rt. 15), the Visitor Center is the park welcome center and contains the Gettysburg Museum of the Civil War, the "Electric Map" battle orientation program, the Eastern National Park & Monument Association bookstore, and restrooms. The museum and map program are handicapped accessible. Licensed Battlefield Guides are available at the center. Park offices are also located in the center. The Visitor Center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with expanded hours during the summer season. The Gettysburg National Cemetery is located directly across the street from the visitor center and is open from dawn to sunset. The shuttle bus to Eisenhower National Historic Site is available at the center. Parking is adjacent to the building with reserved handicapped parking bays and a bus loading area. Bus and RV parking is limited. (See "Security Notice" below)
Cyclorama Center- Located adjacent to the Visitor Center, this building contained the Gettysburg Cyclorama, a 360 foot long, circular oil-on-canvas painting that depicts "Pickett's Charge," the climatic moment of the battle. The Cyclorama Program is closed to complete the removal and restoration of the painting for its future home in the new National Park Service Museum and Visitor Center, scheduled to open in 2008. There is a free 20-minute film on the battle in the Cyclorama Center auditorium and exhibits on the third day of the battle. Seasonal displays, art exhibits and campaign related items are housed here. The exhibit hall and auditorium are handicapped accessible. Public restrooms are available inside but accessibility is limited. Parking is adjacent to the center with limited slots for buses and RV's. An overflow parking lot is located on the Taneytown Road, one-quarter mile south of the center and is open year-round. (See "Security Notice" below)
(Please note that the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center and Cyclorama Center are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. The Cyclorama Center will close November 21, 2006 through April 30, 2007.)
Gettysburg National Military Park - Accessibility Information- Information on access to park buildings and facilities for our visitors with special needs.
Amphitheater- Located in the park on West Confederate Avenue, the amphitheater plays host to summer programs and special events. Special campfire programs are held at the amphitheater nightly during the summer months. Check our events schedule for more information. There are no restrooms at the site. The amphitheater is handicapped accessible from the nearby gravel parking area.
 Comfort Stations- There are public restrooms and water fountains at park comfort stations located at Spangler's Spring, Devil's Den, the Pennsylvania Monument, and in the National Cemetery. Additional facilities are located at the West End Entrance Station on US Route 30 West, and on Business 15 South near the South Confederate Avenue picnic area. Parking is nearby the stations with the exception of the Devil's Den Station. Handicapped access is available at all stations. The comfort stations are open seasonally, mid-spring through late summer only. The National Cemetery Comfort Station will remain open during the fall for special events.
Picnic Areas- There are two picnic areas in the park with picnic tables and parking close by. One area is directly behind the Visitor Center, and the other is located on South Confederate Avenue. Open fires and charcoal grills are prohibited in park picnic grounds.
Campground- McMillan Woods Youth Campground in Gettysburg National Military Park is open seasonally, from mid April through October and is available for youth groups only. The campground has ten sites with limited facilities for primitive tent camping and is available to any organized youth or scout group with adequate adult supervision, minimum of one adult for every ten youths. Campground reservations are required and will be awarded through a lottery system beginning in 2004.

Park Roads and Avenues- Over 26 miles of roads and avenues cover the park and are accessible by private vehicle. Park roads are open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM. There are also hiking trails and a designated horse trail for riding. (Note: Bicycle riding is permitted on park avenues only. Motorized off-road vehicles, trail bikes, and mountain bikes are prohibited on park trails. Riders should be aware of heavy vehicle traffic at all times.)

Lodging, restaurants, camping, and other area attractions- There are no lodging or restaurant facilities in Gettysburg National Military Park, but a number of businesses are close by or within a five mile radius of the visitor center.

SECURITY NOTICE: In planning your visit to Gettysburg National Military Park please keep in mind that the Visitor and Cyclorama Centers are Federal facilities. Backpacks, day packs, large handbags, packages or other large containers are prohibited in the buildings. All persons entering are subject to search. Possession of weapons is prohibited throughout the park.
