Contact: Kim McLeod, 718-354-4530 WHAT: Your Park! Your Health! will celebrate the end of a successful summer engaging new communities with heart-smart outdoor recreation at Gateway. This collaboration between the American Heart Association and the National Park Service introduced over 600 New Yorkers, especially from Hindu and Spanish-speaking communities, to overnight camping and kayaking at Gateway National Recreation Area's Jamaica Bay Unit. WHERE: Canarsie Pier, Brooklyn. Look for the signs. WHEN: Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M WHO: Anyone can come! No charge and no reservations required. NOTE: Bring clothes that can get a bit wet. Sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellant, a hat and some water are highly recommended. Life jackets will be provided and must be worn. Program may be cancelled in case of inclement weather. --NPS-- |
