Parking fees will be waived Thursday, August 25. WHERE: Sandy Hook Unit, Highlands, N.J., and Jacob Riis Park, Queens, N.Y. All other areas of Gateway National Recreation Area are always free. WHEN: Thursday, August 25, 2011. WHY: Every year, the National Park Service celebrates NPS Founders Day with a fee-free day on August 25, the day President Woodrow Wilson signed the Act of Congress that created the agency. Every year on August 25, Gateway waives its parking fees, as do most National Park Service sites which charge parking or entrance fees. --NPS-- |
