Gateway Announces New Visitor Center Schedules for Fall 2011

Beginning Sunday, October 2, several visitor centers throughout Gateway National Recreation Area will have new operating schedules. The new schedule is based on visitor patterns and anticipated staffing levels for the coming year.

Jamaica Bay Unit

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center: Cross Bay Boulevard, Queens, N.Y. (718) 318-4340
Open seven days a week, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Staten Island Unit

Fort Wadsworth Visitor Center: 120 New York Avenue, Staten Island, N.Y. (718) 354-4500
Open Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
Closed weekdays

Miller Field Contact Station: 26 Miller Field, Staten Island, N.Y. (718) 351-6970
Open Wednesday - Sunday, 9:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
Closed Monday - Tuesday

Great Kills Park Contact Station: Buffalo Street, Staten Island, N.Y. (718) 987-6826

Lighthouse tours take place Sunday through Saturday, 1:00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M.

*The Spermaceti Cove Visitor Center will be closed until the summer of 2012.*
