Gateway's Jamaica Bay Unit contains many historic and natural resources associated with the "Golden Age" of aviation, national defense, public recreation and natural resource preservation. The following are just some of the notable figures who contributed to our nation's heritage.

Did You Know?
The first transatlantic flight departed from the Rockaway Naval Air Station on Jamaica Bay in 1919. Today, it is the site of Gateway NRA's Jacob Riis Park.
