Union army crossing the Rapidan River at Germanna Ford
After three Union corps crossed the Rappahannock River at Kelly's Ford on April 28, the Eleventh and Twelfth Corps marched to the Rapidan River at Germanna Ford where they crossed on the afternoon and evening of April 29. The Fifth Corps proceededĀ  to the Rapidan River at Ely's Ford. The three corps reunited at Chancellorsville on the afternoon of April 30. This photo shows the Union army crossing the Rapidan River at Germanna Ford a year later during the Wilderness Campaign.
