Exhibit renovations at Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center
The exhibits and film at Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center are closed due to renovation work. We expect to reopen with new exhibits in the spring of 2014. The bookstore and visitor center at Chancellorsville are open daily.

Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center to be Closed October 28 and 29
The National Park Visitor Center at Chancellorsville Battlefield will be closed on October 28 and 29, 2013.On those days, park staff will begin preparing the visitor center for the replacement of exhibits by removing artifacts from the existing exhibits.
While the building itself will be closed, park staff will be present to offer orientation and assistance as needed.
Background:Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania NMP has received funding to develop new exhibits at both Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville Visitor Centers.Installation will take place in the spring. Building preparations begin in October and will require limited access and occasional short-term closures of the buildings.More details will be released as the timing of those closures becomes more clear.
Note:This work was originally announced for October 8 and 9, but was postponed due to the recent government shutdown.

In 2003, a monument to the 7th Michigan Infantry was placed where that unit crossed the Rappahannock River into the streets of Fredericksburg. It was the first Union regiment to cross the river during the Battle of Fredericksburg.The monument is on Sophia Street at the foot of Hawke Street.
