Directions to Wilderness Battlefield

The Wilderness Battlefield does not have a visitor center. The exhibit shelter on Route 20 is a good place to start. Be aware that the shelter is unmanned except during the summer and on weekends in the spring and fall. There are no rest rooms on the battlefield. Click here for more information on visiting the Wilderness Battlefield and click here for information on the Battle of The Wilderness.

The Wilderness Exhibit Shelter is located on Route 20 about 2 miles south of the intersection of Route 3 with Route 20. The address is: 35347 Constitution Highway, Orange, Virginia 22960. This is a street address, not a mailing address. If you are coming from I-95, take exit 130 West. Drive west approximately 12 miles to a traffic light at the intersection with Route 20. You will pass the Chancellorsville Visitor Center where you might want to stop for information and rest rooms. Turn left and proceed about 2 miles. The shelter is on the right.

Confederate artillerists on Marye's Heights at Fredericksburg

Did You Know?
The Confederate battleline at Fredericksburg stretched for seven miles on a series of hills and ridges west of the town. A five mile drive links the two sectors where fighting occurred. It follows the remains of Confederate earthworks which can be seen from your car.
