Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site
For Teachers

The park is not offering educational programs at the site during the closure.  However, teachers interested in working with park staff to plan an educational experience in an Olmsted-designed park in Boston’s Emerald Necklace are encouraged to contact the park Education Specialist at 617-201-7223 or 617-201-7217.

To receive an educators’ packet, simply e-mail us or contact the park headquarters at 617-566-1689. The packet includes brief biographies of Frederick Law Olmsted and his sons, a collection of images and quotes pertaining to Olmsted-designed projects, a park brochure, and information on educational programs and materials available through the National Park Service.

Did You Know?
Olmsted translates into “Place of the Elms”. Some say his planting of these trees could be considered similar to the signature of an artist.
