Public Notice

Friendship Hill National Historic Site will be closed Tuesday May 27, 2008. Site Manager Dan Watson said the closure is temporary and will last for two days or less.

The park entrance road will be closed May 27 as an overlay of asphalt is placed on the road. “We anticipate the work will take only one day,” said Watson. “If crews are unable to finish on Tuesday, they will be back to complete the overlay on Wednesday, May 28.”

The Visitor Center will be closed and no programs offered during this road closure. The park grounds and trails will also be closed as the parking areas will be unavailable.

More information on the parks is available by calling the parks directly. The number for Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 724-329-5512 and for Friendship Hill National Historic Site is 724-725-9190

Albert Gallatin and the Constituiton

Did You Know?
Albert Gallatin was the first man removed from the U.S. Senate. In 1793 Gallatin’s political foes claimed he was not a U.S. citizen for the required nine years. Gallatin had been in America since 1780, but swore an oath of allegiance in 1785. He was disqualified by a Senate vote along party lines.
