Schedule for 2011 Frederick Douglass Birthday Celebration

The Frederick Douglass Birthday Celebration is now also a fundraiser for the Ballou High School Library!

The entire Ballou High School Library is currently smaller than Frederick Douglass's personal library. To help improve this please bring donations or appropriate books in good condition to the birthday celebration and they will be collected and delivered to the high school. The DC Public Libraries and Eastern National Bookstore are already making donations, so help pitch in.

Transportation

We encourage visitors to take METRO, walk, or carpool. We cannot offer on site parking for this event, street parking or use of a lot (for example at MLK Ave. and W St.) are possible.

Additional information on driving directions or driving alternatives.

Checker board made by Douglass

Visitors to Frederick Douglass' Cedar Hill home in Washington, D.C. would enjoy a game of checkers with him in his East Parlor, the fanciest and most public room in the house.
