It followed the paths of pioneer trails such as the Old Santa Fe Trail, and later became a Dust Bowl migration route, WWII strategic military route, and vacation route. Today, it is still celebrated as an American icon through literature, film, and song. Join National Park Service Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program manager Kaisa Barthuli on a journey of the highway's storied history through the 20th century, with a special emphasis on New Mexico and current revitalization efforts. This program will be held at the CCHP/Santa Fe Trail Interpretive Center, 116 Bridge Street, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 7:00PM.
