The staff at Fort Stanwix National Monument is delighted to announce its fall Homeschool Day, "You and Your Garrison", on Wednesday, September 12. Throughout this six-hour, fee-free event, homeschool families will be treated to interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experiences provided by park staff and volunteers highlighting daily life at the "fort that never surrendered".

For those who attended in April, this event will be just as exciting! We will be introducing new activities as well as revisiting some of the favorites from the spring event. From 9:30 am to 11:30 am and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, participants are invited to self-guide through many different learning stations within the Willett Center and fort structure.

Throughout the day, learners will discover how science and math play an important part in firing cannons, act out the twenty-one day siege of the fort, engage in many of the everyday activities of the women and children of the 3rd NY Regiment, compare and contrast modern and 18th century firefighting, be encouraged to interact with park exhibits by joining the "Amazing Fort Stanwix Race", and much, much more.Learners of all ages will experience Continental Army life on the frontier of New York State. In the event of inclement weather, accommodations will be made to continue the outdoor activities within the covered living history spaces.

For those wishing to spend the entire day at the park, participants are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and a blanket and enjoy their midday meal onsite. There are also many offsite meal options within close proximity of the fort.
