Rome, NY: The staff and volunteers at Fort Stanwix National Monument invite you to join in the 2012 Backyard Club program and learn how to "up-cycle" by turning your trash into works of art! The program takes place on Saturday, February 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fort Stanwix National Monument's Willett Center.

Have you ever wondered about where your waste and recyclables end up when you don't dispose of them properly? "Up-cycle" means to use something again but in a better or cooler way.  Take a trip down Recycle Aisle and learn about "Leave No Trace Behind," then see if you can help turn your trash into a work of art. Come and share some of your ideas about how all of us can recycle or up-cycle in a different way!

The Backyard Club at Fort Stanwix National Monument creates connections between youth and parks through diverse park programs and inspires kids to get outside and experience their America. The Backyard Club will meet in 2012 on the third Saturday of each month. The next Backyard Club will be held March 17, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fort Stanwix National Monument's Willett Center. For more information about The Backyard Club, please call Fort Stanwix National Monument at 315-338-7730 and speak with one of the rangers. All programs are free and no reservations are necessary.
