You are invited to become a Junior Archeologist with the staff of Fort Stanwix and dig into history. You will become one of thousands of volunteers across America who study manmade objects from the long ago past for science and for fun. Become an artifact detective and track down the story of the Oneida Carry. Whatever happened to the hundreds of men, women, and children who once lived and worked at Fort Stanwix? Explore the effects of urban development on the site. You will learn how you can protect the artifacts in your own backyard, here at Fort Stanwix and in our National Parks. The Backyard Club at Fort Stanwix National Monument creates connections between youth and parks through diverse park programs and inspires kids to get outside and experience their America.

The Backyard Club will meet Saturday, January 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fort Stanwix National Monument's Willett Center. The next Backyard Club will be held February 18, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fort Stanwix National Monument's Willett Center.
