Join the staff at Fort Stanwix National Monument for the Friday, October 6th premier showing of the new fort movie. The premier event will begin at 11:00 a.m., with the 25-minute movie starting at 11:15 a.m. Refreshments will be served during the event.

“This movie was produced through hard work by the combined efforts of Fort Stanwix National Monument, the National Park Service’s Harper’s Ferry Center, the Oneida Indian Nation, and Northern Light Productions,” stated Mike Kusch, Chief of Interpretation and Resource Management at Fort Stanwix. “In particular, we want to acknowledge to efforts of Park Ranger Bill Sawyer. He spent many hours planning, organizing, writing, reviewing, editing, acting, and more in the completion of this project. Please join the park in celebrating his success.”

The fort film focuses on what fort life was like for the soldiers, artisans and campfollowers after the 1777 siege and is intended to enhance the living history program offered by park staff and volunteers. Production of the fort movie started while construction of the Marinus Willett Center was nearing completion. Filming took place within the fort and on Oneida Indian Nation land.

Fort Stanwix National Monument is open seven days a week 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Days. Admission to the Marinus Willett Center and Fort are free. Visitors are encouraged to start their experience at the Marinus Willett Center at the intersection of West Dominick and James Streets. A park ranger can assist you in planning your visit.
