First let me tell you how much I like Fort Stanwix. My Goose Family and I visit the fort every spring and fall. It's great fun.

I like to fly over the fort several times to pick out a really good landing spot. The fort looks like an island of green grasses.

Nearby lakes sparkle with clean water. And the winds are fair.

Many important events happened at Fort Stanwix. These events happened long ago in the 1700's. You will read some of the stories about Fort Stanwix and other places in the National Park System.

Let's start by exploring how National Parks
first got started.

The story on this bastion tells us about our first National Park,

Yellowstone National Park.
