Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’ ” Looking to do more? In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, National Park Service sites across the country are waiving fees and participating in a day of national service. Come out, volunteer, and help honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! Let’s “make it a day on; not a day off.” Fort Raleigh National Historical Site in Manteo, NC is excited to provide an opportunity for anyone on this day of national service to help out in their community as we remove overgrown vegetation along the site’s roadway and trails. Join National Park Service staff from 10 am - 12 pm on Monday, January 18. We will meet at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site Visitor Center. Bring leather gloves, eye protection (i.e. sunglasses), water, snacks, and bug spray (ticks). Wear appropriate clothing, including closed-toe shoes, pants, and long sleeve shirts. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them. For more information, call 252-475-9042.
