Savannah, GA – To celebrate National Park Week, the National Park Service’s annual celebration, Fort Pulaski National Monument will host a special exhibit by Tybee Island photographer and resident, Shannon Christopher. The exhibit, entitled “The Muse,” features photographs taken by Christopher throughout Fort Pulaski and Cockspur Island. The show will present 15 individual mounted and framed pieces along with a 3’ x 5’ composite of 32 images, all taken with an iPhone.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibit on Friday, April 18 at 6 PM in the park Visitor Center. The reception is free and open to the public.
As part of the exhibit, Christopher will also be offering hour-long photography workshops at 3:30 PM on Sunday, May 4 and at 3:30 PM on Sunday, June 1. The workshops will be suitable for beginners, as well as those of an intermediate level looking to improve their ability to document nature with their phone cameras. The course will include basic instructions on lighting, composition, the Camera+ app, and technique. Participants will explore the park and create their own images with the instructor’s guidance. It is advised to have a camera app that allows you to focus and expose independently of each other.
Anyone interested in participating in the workshops may send an email to email@example.com. To participate in the workshops, the park entrance fee of $5 per adult (children 15 and under are free) is required or a park pass must be presented.
“The Muse” will be on display in the park Visitor Center from Saturday, April 19 through Sunday, July 27.
