FARMINGTON, Pa., The Friends of Fort Necessity have announced the program for the 2014 Lecture Series. The June lecture will be a presentation by public historian Sarah E. Reedy titled, "More than a Fashion Magazine: Feminism in Godey's Lady's Book," and will focus on the development of the Lady's Book and Sarah J. Hale's efforts to inspire and develop the female voice in antebellum America. The lecture will be held on Saturday, June 14, at 3:30 p.m. at the Visitor Center of Fort Necessity National Battlefield.

Sarah E. Reedy has a Bachelor's degree from Mercyhurst University and a Master's degree in Public History from Duquesne University. Reedy spent three years working for the National Park Service as a seasonal park ranger. During her time with the National Park Service, Reedy developed and presented guided tours to the public. Reedy has also worked with Rivers of Steel Heritage Area and the Carnegie Library. At both sites, Reedy catalogued artifacts and organized archival collections.

The 2014 Lecture Series will continue through September.Upcoming programs include "The Archaeology of Fort Reconstruction" with Katie M. Turner on Saturday, July 12, "Victorian Mourning" with Tania Kirkman on Saturday, August 9, and "The Life and Times of Charlotte Browne: Gender and Rank During the Seven Years' War" with Erica Nuckles on Saturday, September 13.

All programs will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Visitor Center of Fort Necessity National Battlefield. A park entrance fee of $5 per adult (age 15 and under free) covers all park activates.
