FARMINGTON, Pa. – In celebration of Citizenship Day/Constitution Week September 17-23, the United States Citizen and Immigration Service will conduct a naturalization ceremony for 25 new citizens at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 17 at Fort Necessity National Battlefield. The theme of Constitution Week is “Embrace Citizenship – Experience America through Your National Parks.” The ceremony will highlight the meaning of citizenship to all who participate and will connect America’s newest citizens to our national parks. The idea of National Parks, special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage, originated in America and has been called America’s best idea. It is fitting that these new citizens take their oath where they can learn about the rich history of their new land. The ceremony will include remarks by Joanne Hanley, General Superintendent of the National Parks in Western Pennsylvania, and Perry Rhew, Chief of the Administrative Appeals Office of the USCIS. General admission for the park is $5.00 per adult. Children 15 and under are free of charge. The fee is collected at the park’s Visitor Center and is valid for seven days.
