Traveling the National Road – Unit 10: Other Activities and Appendix
In “Traveling the National Road (Other Activities and Appendix)” students will participate in three math activities, one using the toll rates and two using the distances on the mile markers. The appendix has a timeline, bibliography, list of vocabulary and a word search The “Traveling the National Road” teacher’s guide is broken into ten units and is targeted for 3rd grade students. Each unit can be completed independently. This is unit 10 and contains three activities and an appendix.

The French and Indian War 1754-1763: Unit 1, The Forks of the Ohio
The "Forks of the Ohio" is an activity from unit 1 of the Teacher’s Education Kit “The French and Indian War: 1754-1763.” This is the pre-visit activity for the field trip “Three Cultures in Conflict at Fort Necessity.” The students will learn where the British were located, where the French were location and what territory was disputed.

The French and Indian War 1754-1763: Unit 3, Fort Necessity Surrender Document
The “Fort Necessity Surrender Document” is an activity from unit 3 of the Teacher’s Education Kit “The French and Indian War: 1754-1763.” This is the post-visit activity for the field trip “Three Cultures in Conflict at Fort Necessity.” The students will learn about the controversy surrounding the word “assassination” found in the document.

The lesson will also help dispel some of the myths and misconceptions about Washington. Students will be introduced to a young man who is strong, brave and ready to make a name for himself.
