10AM-4PM: Fort McHenry Boat Tour—get a glimpse of Francis Scott Key’s experience on the water during the Battle of Baltimore in 1814 and hear how he was inspired to write the words to what would become our National Anthem. Tours leave on the hour $10 Adults and $5 Children (ages 3-11).
Saturday Evening Spectacular!
6–9PM: Free Evening Ceremony. Greetings by dignitaries followed by a procession by the U.S. Army Old Guard. See the same horse-drawn caisson used at Arlington National Cemetery as it triumphantly bears the Maryland Historical Society’s replica hand-made Star-Spangled Banner Flag. See the flag ceremoniously raised over the Fort! The U.S. Army Drill Team will showcase precision drill followed by a cannon-firing "battle" demonstrating the tactics used to defend Baltimore in 1814; patriotic concert by the U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus!
5–9PM: Friends of Fort McHenry’s Annual Star-Spangled Spectacular Reception. Experience the evening ceremony while enjoying a lavious buffet from Atlantic Caterers, Ryleigh’s Oysters, Heavy Seas Beer, Atlantic Wines, raffles, and more. Adults $75 & Children $25, www.friendsoffortmchenry.org
