New Classroom Lesson Plan Celebrates Star-Spangled Banner
Fort McHenry is the 137th Teaching with Historic Places online lesson plan. This National Park Service series uses the National Register of Historic Places to enrich traditional classroom instruction of history, social studies, civics, and other subjects.

Defenders Day - The Star-Spangled Banner Weekend
Join us the weekend of September 11-13 for Fort McHenry’s flagship event! This three-day encampment and extravaganza is celebrated with over 100 War of 1812 reenactors, parades, military bands, fireworks, a symbolic ship-to-shore bombardment and much more!

Possible Fort Closure
The Star Fort of Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine may be closed on any day from June 29 until July 3rd for the installation of a new flagpole.

Fee Free Weekends at Fort McHenry
Entrance fees at Fort McHenry will be suspended on the weekends of June 20- 21, July 18-19 and August 15-16.

Star Fort Closed
The Star-Spangled Banner will still wave by the “Dawn’s Early Light” but on a new flagpole. On June 19, 2009 the existing pole, dating to 1989, will be removed.
