Experience the excitement of a working fort as Fort Larned NHS hosts an array of Labor Day activities, September 3 - 5, 2011.Living history demonstrations and activities will be held all three days from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Fort Larned will be a buzz of activity as soldiers perform rifle and cannon demonstrations, blacksmiths firing up the forge, and the baker creating meals for the troops. Interact with living history interpreters including the ladies of the fort dressed in elaborate Victorian dresses and soldiers in historic wool uniforms.
A variety of presentations will be held throughout the day.The Visitor Center had an interesting museum and 10-minute film you will not want to miss!
Did You Know?
The 10th Cavalry, an all-black regiment, was stationed at Fort Larned from 1867 to 1869. They departed after a fire ripped through the regiment’s stables, killing dozens of horses and destroying valuable supplies and equipment. More...
