Weather

This is the warmest area of Wyoming. Summer days can get quite hot (over 100 degrees F) with average temperatures in the 80s and 90s, though nights are mostly cool.

The region is semi-arid with a very distinct winter dry season. About 70% of the normal annual precipitation falls during the spring and early summer.

Winters are cold and breezy with sub-zero days not being uncommon.

Did You Know?
Standing on the edge of a vast badlands landscape, a Spanish explorer is rumored to have named the area "El Desierto Pintado" (The Painted Desert) because the hills looked like they were painted with the colors of the sunset.
